British: Your stiff upper lip may serve you well in business dealings, but try to relax and let yourself go in your social life.

Gut, bewiesen war sie nie. Geschweige denn gab es irgendwelche Belege. Darüber hinaus ignorierte die Astrologie hunderte astronomischer Fakten, widersprach gar physikalischen Gesetzen.

Irgendjemand hat sich jetzt trotzdem die Mühe gemacht, eine Studie dazu zu machen. Nicht gerade überraschend ist das Resultat:

For several decades, researchers tracked more than 2,000 people - most of them born within minutes of each other. According to astrology, the subject should have had very similar traits.

The babies were originally recruited as part of a medical study begun in London in 1958 into how the circumstances of birth can affect future health. More than 2,000 babies born in early March that year were registered and their development monitored at regular intervals.

Researchers looked at more than 100 different characteristics, including occupation, anxiety levels, marital status, aggressiveness, sociability, IQ levels and ability in art, sport, mathematics and reading - all of which astrologers claim can be gauged from birth charts.

The scientists failed to find any evidence of similarities between the “time twins”, however. They reported in the current issue of the Journal of Consciousness Studies: “The test conditions could hardly have been more conducive to success . . . but the results are uniformly negative.”¹

Nächste Woche wird das Berner Parlament eine Motion von EDU-Grossrat Erwin Brun behandeln, dieser fordert, dass die Schulen die christliche Schöpfungslehre als Alternative zur Evolutionstheorie lehren. Aller Voraussicht nach wird die Motion jedoch abgeschmettert.

Die Kreationisten- und Intelligent Design-Bewegung fasst in der Schweiz glücklicherweise kaum Fuss. Obwohl auch bei Schweizern der Aberglaube noch zum Alltag gehört.

Der Kreationisten-Verbund Pro Genesis hat gerade mal 600 Mitglieder, deren Gründer Gian Luca Carigiet ist enttäuscht darob, dass er keine Massenbewegung initiieren konnte.

“Die Evolutionstheorie ist für Carigiet eine Weltanschauung  und zwar eine atheistische: «Ein Atheist, der Gott ablehnt, muss die Entstehung der Welt anders erklären können als durch einen Gott.» Und weil man die Evolutionstheorie nicht beweisen könne, sei sie kein Faktum, sondern bestenfalls eine Möglichkeit. Umgekehrt ist Gott für Carigiet keine Möglichkeit, sondern ein Faktum. Darum habe der Schöpfergott nichts mit Religion, sondern mit Tatsachen zu tun. Folglich gehöre die Schöpfungslehre in den Biologieunterricht und nicht in den Religionsunterricht, sagt Carigiet, der vor Jahren aus der katholischen Kirche ausgetreten ist und sich als nicht religiös, aber gläubig bezeichnet.”¹

Ich frage mich immer, wenn ich solche Leute wie Carigiet höre, was da schief gelaufen ist. Wurde er als kleines Kind von seinen Eltern indoktriniert? Hat ihn eine Freikirche mit Tanz und Gesang angelockt und ihm ganz subtil Kreationismus untergejubelt? Oder hat die Schweizer Bildungspolitik versagt? Müssen wir die Schulen tadeln?

Manchmal, wenn ich so gemütlich in meine Gymnasium sitze und Mitschüler plaudern höre, über Sternendeuterei oder Krähenflüsterer, dann erschrickt mich deren lückenhafte Allgemeinbildung geradezu. Kaum einer scheint im Stande, sich astronomische Konstellationen und Dimensionen vorzustellen. Kaum einer kennt die Taschenspielertricks eines Uri Gellers.
