Skillz - The Million Dollar Backpack
it seems like skillz turned into a lupe fiasco clone. the million dollar backpack resembles lu’s food & liquor so damn strongly that you could almost speak of a copyright infringement. but if you compare the two lps, not the covers, but the music, the likeness disappears in less than a second. any similarity to the other backpack-rapper kanye west? no, absolutely not.
is this fact good or bad?
it’s irrelevant. rather a good original than a bad fake. rather good independent hip hop from skillz than a half-assed attempt to copy lupe.
the million dollar backpack is providing you with good juicy hip hop. laid back. skillz didn’t manage to bring any new impulses into the game. hold tight is laudable exception. a fusion jazz and rap. two great music genres, that go seperate ways practically always. sad but true.
