i have a soft spot for relases of rappers and hip hop crews that are surrounding the infamous Jedi Mind Tricks. Doap Nixon’s Sour Diesel is exactly such a release.

i don’t have any idea what Sour Diesel tastes like (”Beyond the citrus end of the pot palate spectrum lies a sour lemon tang tending toward the heay pungency of an open drum of diesel.”¹ ) because i never smoke and rarely sniff at diese barrels.

Doap Nixon’s Sour Diesel however is fresh to death. possessing the harsh, grim fierceness of Jedi Mind Tricks-releases, but nearly without (you will find some vibrating e-guitars on Warning Shot) the interlaced Metal that’s influencing their works heavily. it’s rather classic Hip Hop than Death Rap.

Sour Diesel is the great release of this summer. unless some unnamed artist will surprise us.
