Eine atmosphärisch-grandioses Hörerlebnis. Wahrhaftig Late Night Cinema. Obwohl ich bei Spätabendfilme üblicherweise etwas mehr Blut und Action drin haben will, und weniger stimmungsvolle, träumerische Klänge, in die man sich versenken kann. Es ist grossartig, kaum wirklich Hip Hop zu nennen - besonders, da es ein Instrumental-Album ist -, doch stören tut das nicht. Ausser man erträgt nur D-Block- oder G-Unit-Töne. Und das sind traurige Existenzen.

Kopfkino. Blue Sky Black Death bringt das Kino in deinen Kopf.

Chron Smith hat sich mit dem sehr jungen Produzentenduo Blue Sky Black Death (K. ” Kingston” Maguire und I. “Young God” Taggart) zusammengeschlossen und das wunderbar soulige Album Razah’s Ladder aufgenommen.

Hervorzuheben sind sicherlich das schwer verdaulich, grimmige The Cube, die grossartige, deepe Collabo Halos mit Crooked I und das bedrückende Written In Blood mit Prodigal Sunn.

Insgesamt ein zwar exzellent produziertes, mit dem Soul-Anstrich sehr stimmungsvolles, aber eben auch recht konventionelles Album. Fresh würde ich Razah’s Ladder sicherlich nicht betiteln. Aber den einen oder anderen Abend, wenn ich mich bloss zurücklehnen und etwas Souliges hören möchte, das aber doch nicht trieft vor Süsse, Herzschmerz und Schmalz, werde ich gewiss auf Hell Razah zurück greifen. Zudem ist er einfach ein verdammt guter Rapper.
